Ralfonso News!

Dear Friend of my Ralfonso Kinetic
Sculptures for Public Places,
As every year,
I share with you a brief 2005 Retrospective
and the Outlook for 2006.
2005
Ralfonso Retrospective:
2005
turned out to be a truly great year for me personally - with more
international exhibitions and interesting kinetic sculpture projects
then ever before, such as the following highlights:
![]() 1) On May 5th, 2005 I was so thrilled to win the first prize in the $425,000 international sculpture competition as well as the commission award for Opera Place www.operaplacewpb.com in W. Palm Beach, Florida! See Opera here
2) My
15' Moving on UP #3 kinetic
wind sculpture received 3rd prize in the
international sculpture competition by BAP Development
for their 610 Clematis
Street Project www.610clematis.com
3) On May 10th, 2005 my mural
partner Gregory Ross and
I officially unveiled our "Poetry
in Motion" Mural at the Ballet Florida Center with
Honorable Mayor Louis Frankel. Our Ballet
Florida Mural is the largest Photographic Mural in the County -120'
(40meter) long by 30' (10meter) and is applied with a unique,
long lasting print technology. Please see
Unveiling of Ballet Florida Mural -- Largest in Palm Beach
County and
the enclosed photo.
4) In
May 2005 I was awarded the commission for a large 160 piece
mobile for the new Royal Caribbean Cruise Line building in
Eugene, Oregon.
5) As President of the
Kinetic Art Organization (KAO)
www.kinetic-art.org
I am so please to have received a major donation by Mr. and Mrs.
Montgomery of Palm Beach - a collection of 23 important
early kinetic sculptures with which we intend to
start a unique Kinetic Art Museum...for more information, please
see the KAO website. We are now over 800 members strong - from
60 Countries and will have our 5th annual International Kinetic
Art Competition next year.
6) FloridaWise Magazine did
a coverstory about my art :) in their
October 2005
issue - click to see PDF file.
Overall I enjoyed a very creative
year with 6 new Water and LIGHT sculpture designs, a lot more press
and also speaking engagements such as at the International Sculpture
Center (ISC) Panel Discussion at SCOPE-Art Basel Miami Beach -
"Trailblazers in Contemporary Art".... - it really was a fabulous
year, with the exception of the great damage to my office/studio
caused by Hurricane Wilma.
2006
Ralfonso Outlook:
I am GREATLY
looking forward to this year!!!
From:
May 13th 2006 to September 24th 2006
At: Grounds for Sculpture Park - 18 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619, Tel. (609) 586-0616 - http://www.groundsforsculpture.org/
My design focus for this new year is on
large to monumental kinetic and
LIGHT sculptures, which
are mostly water-driven, and
which are composed
of chrome-steel, Lucite and computer - guided
LED lights. The LEDs gently
change according to external variables such as the outside weather,
time of the day, number of onlookers, etc.
Should you like to see any of these
kinetic sculptures in action, I will be glad to mail you a CD with
movies and photos - just e-mail me a quick note to
ralfonso@ralfonso.com .
I wish you all the very BEST for
this year and remain,
with warmest regards from sunny
Florida,
The latest version # 9 of
my CD with hi res photos and movies is now ready and available - let
me know if you would like me to send it to you.
Thats all for now, folks ...
I hope
all is well on your side and I look forward to
hearing from you!
With best regards and a
Cheerio for
now - your Ralf Gschwend
